Action Alert: Bill To Allow Birth Certificate “Sex Change” By Simple Request!
On Tuesday, at 4:00 p.m. in the Senate Health Subcommittee, five Senators will be voting on SB 657 (Boysko-D), which seeks to change Virginia law to allow any person to legally “change” their birth sex on their official birth certificate by doing nothing more than make a simple request to the State Registrar. This would create utter chaos, and would lead to significant conflicts for anyone who refuses to go along with others’ false representations about their true identity as male or female.
The bill specifically states: “Requirements related to obtaining a new certificate of birth to show a change of sex shall not include any requirement for evidence or documentation of any medical procedure.”
With incredible irony, the bill actually requires that a person obtain “a certified copy of a court order [to change] the person's name,” but a mere request in order to “change” their biological sex! Of course, names are important, yet they really can be changed. But how much more important is one’s status as either male or female, the body and the person which God created them to be, which truly is immutable?
This policy change would be nothing short of cataclysmic to the everyday lives of every Virginian. Suddenly, no person could ever feel safe in their privacy in male or female spaces like bathrooms and changing facilities. No one could ever know by looking at someone which pronouns they should use for them. And this would create even greater problems for conscientious and faith-convicted persons everywhere, who would now have to contend with official government documents deeming someone to be a sex legally different than their true sex. Male prisoners convicted of sexual crimes could easily change their sex designation and demand to be housed with female inmates.
Already in Virginia, in Hanover County, the parents of a sixth-grade biological male recently went to another state (which passed this equivalent policy last year) to have the sex designation on their child's birth certificate changed, and now 12-year old girls are being forced to undress in the school locker rooms in front of this male. Despite their many complaints of being violated, the school principal seems to have his hands tied because the student's official government-issued birth certificate says he's a girl!
The madness will be never-ending and ever-increasing.
