Pro-Life Means You are “Pro-Cruelty”?
“Woe to those who call evil good, and good evil.”
This is coming true right before our very eyes. During a special session of the General Assembly earlier this month, Delegate Marcia Price (D-Newport News) railed against anyone who dares oppose the pro-abortion mantra.
Listen to Del. Price’s six-minute diatribe for yourself, by clicking the image below.
Price outrageously claimed the conservative agenda is “exemplified by cruelty” and that “to so many pro-life is pro-cruelty.” Then she made her “case” by alluding to typical liberal talking points, such as those who are pro-life don’t care about the woman, they lack compassion, they aren’t interested in providing services for women or children after birth, etc. Price obviously thinks killing an innocent baby still in the womb is a good thing and believes she is actually shaming pro-life advocates for their opposition to dismembering and mutilating a living human being, a child that will recoil at an abortionist’s instruments of death.
Price directly attacked a proposed bill “to ban abortion,” most likely referring to Governor Youngkin’s proposed 15-week abortion limitation bill. She added that this bill “will end up hurting people who need compassion.” Price is implying that prohibiting abortions after 15 weeks is not compassionate, but what would be compassionate is to kill a baby in the womb, even after 15 weeks, by which point medical experts believe the baby is capable of feeling pain
Keep in mind that the governor’s proposal is still less restrictive than the majority of European Union member countries, which permit abortions up to 12 weeks of gestation. Here’s what a 12 to13-week-old baby in the womb looks like:
· Soft, fine hair is beginning to appear
· The baby can swallow and produce urine
· Eyes have formed, but eyelids remained sealed for protection
· Ten tiny fingertips are developing ridges that will hold the baby’s unique fingerprints
· Bones are forming and growing
· Some babies can suck their thumb at this point
· The baby is beginning to become more proportional
· All of its vital organs are present.
For decades the pro-life movement in Virginia has labored not only to protect the unborn at all stages of life and their mothers, but also to expand resources for women after birth and strengthen adoption and foster care services for children who need loving homes.
Yet, in 2020 the Democrat majority in both the House of Delegates and the Senate passed legislation that eliminated critical protections for women like fully informed consent, which had included the right to see their ultrasound and a 24-hour waiting period after the initial consultation before making a life-changing decision, and basic health and safety standards for abortion facilities. In 2021, the House Democrat majority voted to remove critical religious conscience protections for faith-based foster care and adoption agencies that help place foster children in loving homes.
It’s difficult to label the conservative agenda and pro-life people as “pro-cruelty” or lacking compassion, when in fact they are on record advocating for basic health and safety standards for abortion facilities that protect women who decide to have an abortion, and to broaden the pool of foster care and adoption agencies that will help find loving homes for more children. These are good policies and objectives that every society should be willing to embrace.
Again, woe to those who call evil good, and good evil. Don’t allow the secular left to shame you into thinking that the conservative agenda lacks compassion, because there is nothing more cruel than brutally killing a helpless human being in the womb.
